"Doxxing" boxing man arested

A man has been arrested by the Privacy Commissioner's Office for Personal Data (PCPD) for allegedly "doxxing" his boxing opponent online.

The PCPD stated that the arrested 29-year-old man participated in a boxing match with the victim early last year. Subsequently, in March of last year and earlier this month, he disclosed the victim's photo, name, and other personal details across two social media platforms, accompanied by negative comments.

The Office emphasized that "doxxing" is a serious offense, and violators can face a maximum fine of HK$1 million and up to five years in prison.
